As Einstein said: “we can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” If we look at the direction taken by society, I think that more and more of us want to live differently, away from the idea of perpetual profits promoted by a consumer society. We are more aware of our environment and of the physical impact we have on what surrounds us. But the best direction to follow to create a real change is not so easy to find. One thing is sure, as long as we repeat the same formula, even with slight variations, the outcome will remain the same.
What if we explored something new? Something that might not be the final solution, but that at least breaks from what we already know, something with the potential of giving a new outcome.
I believe that our biggest challenge towards a transition is to face the unknown. Even if what doesn’t work now leaves us unsatisfied, it might be tempting to find it a few qualities or things that do half of the job (which might seem better than nothing). Of course, the new doesn’t guarantee success, and what we already own from the past, as little as it is, could be lost if our replacement solution fails. But if we do nothing by fear to lose what we already have, then we have already lost. This highlights our lack of confidence that life could be different. This shows that our point of view is limited by what we already know, acting like we had already tried everything… when we are only at the beginning of our journey.
Failures will always happen. For example, most of people who are successful today started with nothing. They had to face refusals, losses, difficult situations, but it didn’t stop them. Something pushed them further, beyond their fears. Their perseverance, their courage and their confidence in what they had to offer paid off.
We should keep in mind that we are the creators of our lives and that our thoughts, beliefs and desires have an impact on what happens to us. Sometimes, we would like to do this or that, but we feel limited by our finance, our time and our fear. And these limitations are perfect, as they protect us from what we are not ready to experience, which could be success. To move on to something new, we have to embody novelty and not dread it. I think that introspection is always something interesting to do when testing the validity of a project. If we have already worked on ourselves, we should know our strengths and weaknesses. So, in introspection, we should be able to be honest with ourselves, to recognize our true motivations and our fears. Are our fears more important than our motivations? If the answer is yes, find someone in your surrounding who has overcome his/her fear. Ask this person some advice and how he/she did it.
What I like when I think about something new is that everything becomes possible. For me, to leave the past behind is easy, as I always had the feeling that I was born two centuries too soon. I can’t wait to watch humankind moving towards simpler and more harmonious solutions. I believe it is possible, if everyone faces his/her fear of difference and failure. For that to happen, we must acknowledge our values and skills. If you have little self-esteem and believe that you are good for nothing, it is time for you to discover yourself. Try something new! Let yourself be surprised!
To leave the past behind and start something new requires imagination. Another of Einstein’s quote is that “imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
I suggest that this week we meditate on the idea of novelty. Free your imagination, using or not the picture below as a starting point.
Happy discovery and enjoy your week!

Feature of the week : three new works in the Healing Soul Series
Here are new additions to my online store. It is interesting to see how my Healing Soul Series evolves from one week to another, as I am focusing on the same idea of healing every time I paint. This inspires me to push the process further to test the impact of intention on matter. For this purpose, I am elaborating an experimental project for which I will need volunteers. If you are intrigued, please visit my page “projet 2019” for more information. An official announcement will be made by the end of the year, and probably a few times in 2019!
