The beautiful red and purple colours in this week meditation picture inspired me to write about rooting down. In a spiritual journey, we often tend to reach upwards to connect with what is greater than us. However, rooting down first is fundamental. Before reaching upwards or anywhere else, we should take the time to really settle inwards. When we think about roots and foundations, the words “family”, “traditions” and “country” might come to mind. In a process of rooting down, we should also consider the elements of our being that are our own.

Life offers such a diversity of experiences that sometimes, it is hard to choose. Clock hands and watch dial numbers always seem to speed up. As I notice the elapsed time, I have the impression I have not done anything, that I don’t have enough time to complete everything on my list. Ironically, I often see myself caught in situations where I’m losing my time, and a lack of understanding or a frustration arises.
While I feel torn between the need to run everywhere and a growing loss of motivation, my intuition suggests me to rethink my priorities. I must find the place or the situation in which I am ready to root down. What do I need to remain balanced? What are the activities that encourage a positive sense of life? Which ones are giving me more energy? What are the things that I still carry and that I don’t need anymore?
I sit in a comfortable position. I imagine a line of energy coming out of my pelvis and reaching the ground. When my thoughts are going in all directions, I do this mental gesture to reconnect with the ground, the earth. I close my eyes and put all my attention on this connection allowing me to gain back my balance. I let myself be rocked by a red and pink light. I recharge my batteries. Once calmed, I listen to the voice of my heart. What are the thoughts or ideas emerging? Are my choices and decisions in coherence with the voice of my heart?
Whenever stimuli from the outside become more powerful than my ability to absorb them, I redo this rooting exercise. I feel the strength that connects me to my essence and I observe with distance all the inner and outer thoughts and ideas that turn me upside down. As if I was pressing on a remote control, I put everything on pause. I clean the space around me like we erase a black board. With my arms and hands, I sweep the energy that surrounds my physical body. I vigorously clear the sensations that destabilize or numb me by pushing them away. By getting rid of energies that do not serve me, I find my balance again.
I hope you feel inspired
Have a great week!
